HERITAGE, CULTURE AND LEISURE
In Vizela, authenticity is present in material and immaterial heritage, in culture, characterized by tradition and modernity and in the various leisure spaces where the natural elements stand out. Among many other places, it is suggested to visit the evocative monument of the oldest military alliance in the world (Padrão do Tratado de Tagilde; alliance between Portugal and England), the Roman Bridge, classified as National Monument, the city`s Leisure Park and the area next to Vizela River, where flora`s diversity is crossed with sports and leisure activities. It is suggested to participate in the various events that take place in Vizela throughout the year, such as the Bolinhol Fair in March, Youth Festival in September, Vizela Christmas City in December and many others.
GASTRONOMY AND WINES
The gastronomic offer of Vizela is diversified. The highlight goes to Bolinhol, a traditional and unique sweet in Portugal. Created in 1880, the soft white sugar coating on the slightly damp mass imparts an unrivaled flavor to it. Bolinhol is one of the 7 Sweet Wonders of Portugal (winner of a national contest in 2019).The wines produced in the municipality of Vizela are now also a reference. The different producers have won several national and international awards, with wines that dignify the region of Vinho Verde. In the many restaurants of Vizela visitors can enjoy meals, especially “Bacalhau à Zé do Pipo”, which are authentic experiences of the regional gastronomy.
In Vizela is also highlighted the Sanctuary of S. Bento (Saint Benedict). Next to it there are two chapels, one of the 16th Century and one of the year 1970, two viewpoints to appreciate the Valley of Vizela, a picnic park, a Roman Cist and an old custom represented by the white color with which are painted several rocks in the hillside next to the Sanctuary. Also in the different parishes of Vizela: Chapel of Santa Ana (1920), Church of Senhor das Cinco Chagas (1850), Chapel of S. Domingos (1930), Church of Santa Eulália (1722), Chapel of Senhora da Tocha (18th century), Church of S. João (1909) and Church of S. Miguel (17th century).
HOT SPRINGS / THERMALISM
Vizela has been known for many years as "Queen of Thermalism of Portugal". The presence of thermal waters dates back to the 18th century, and in 1785 the first facilities were created. Today Vizela`s Hot Springs have appropriate equipment to current needs, with a modern image without compromising its historical character. The waters of Vizela are destined for treatments of otorhinolaryngological, dermatological and rheumatological problems. The wellness is also taken into account, with a SPA for massages and relaxing treatments.

Avicella - Vizela RA is an innovative solution that the Municipality of Vizela has implemented to facilitate the visit and complement the touristic offe, enhancing the promotion of the historical and cultural heritage existing in this tourism destination. With it, the user can have unique experiences, such as watching 365 days a year the procession of S. Bento das Peras, in a cross-sectional plane of more than 150 meters in the location where it takes place, or see from the stunning viewpoint the identification and location of the main places that the view allows to reach.
