BLiP Expo 2016 is now over, with thousands of visitors taking advantage of the opportunity to speak to a wide variety of businesses and many of those exhibitors already expressing their satisfaction with the outcome and reserving their space for 2017. The President of the Portimão Câmara, Isilda Gomes, toured the Exhibition on Saturday afternoon accompanied by Michael Reeve (CEO of the organisers afpop) and Chris Ireland, President of afpop’s Management Council and met many of the Exhibitors. In a televised interview she praised the event and its important role in raising the profile of Portimão amongst the resident and business community.
A new feature for BLiP this year were the in-house presentations. The first of which was introduced by João Fernandes, Vice President of the Regional Tourism Agency, whose team from RTA and Faro airport gave a series of presentations, introducing the new routes from Faro Airport, new initiatives to encourage walking and cycling in the Algarve and the 365 Algarve programme aimed at levelling out seasonal peaks and troughs with a year-round calendar of events.
The Bombeiros were also at the exhibition providing advice on fire safety in the home and garden and demonstrating CPR for humans as well as first aid for animals! Marking the 90th anniversary of the Portimão Bombeiros, there was a display of equipment from times gone by and which will form part of an exhibition in the Portimão Museum later in the year.
Plans are now under way for next year’s BLiP EXPO, details of which will be announced in the near future.
